Pedro Sanchezi's Spanish government was offered in August to be one of the host countries of refugees from Afghanistan, but is now aiming to change the area of refugee flow to other countries. According to medium “Ok Diario”, the executive is working on a plan to open a large refugee camp in Kosovo, along with the European Union.
Spain's assistance here is expected to be in management and construction co-operation. This medium, called into diplomatic sources, has said that there is already a plan on the table and talks are in advanced phases.
As a territorial solution for building such a camp, according to “OkDarios”, the EU and Spain are seeing Kosovo, despite the fact that Spain recognises Kosovo.
Kosovo has already agreed to accommodate around 2,000 Afghans for up to a year, but the report says “could be thousands more in the future, which would remain for a while in this country and would later be sent to EU states through a system for which the deal has yet to reach”.
Many details, however, have not yet been negotiated.
In fact, according to the report, Kosovo has still accepted the proposal, even though “would welcome” because the deal could also be a “recognition from Spain in the future”.
In the meantime, Spain has already relocated more than 2,000 Afghans in a temporary country after removing the basis it had previously established.
This state was offered as a place to accept Afghans who have been co-operating with the EU over the years.
“Ok Diario” is the Spanish digital newspaper founded in September 2015 by journalist Eduardo Inda. Its reports relate to the support of Spanish nationalism. In many cases she has also been criticized for false reporting.
