Israeli police and army have immediately launched their search after Gilboa prison in northern Israel on Monday.
Five of the fugitives belong to the Islamic jihadist movement, and one is the former commander of an armed group linked to the Fatah party, reports Guardian, translates Periscopi.
Arik Yaacov, Israeli commander for the north, said the fugitives seem to have dug a hole from the toilets of their cells to enter the interior passages of the prison building later.
Four of the men were sentenced to life imprisonment. /Periscope
