From this ministry, the minister said that Montenegro and Kosovo have developed meaningful and qualitative relations, based on principles of mutual trust, good neighbourlyity and have a common European and Euro-Atlantic perspective.
“We are convinced that in the coming period, they (Montenegro-Kosovo reports) will improve further on the basis of mutual trust and respect”, the ministry said.
Kosovo Economy Ministry has not commented so far on this invitation
Montenegro's preliminary government, led by President Milo Djukanovic's Democratic Party of Socialists, recognised Kosovo's independence in 2008.
In all previous documents of the Government of Montenegro, Kosovo was treated in line with the decision to recognise independence, not using the tape.
Earlier, even in an announcement from the current government that was elected in December last year ʹ dealing with measures against pandemic, the name of the state of Kosovo was marked with introductory. The government then said that there was technical error in this announcement.
Also, in a planned manifestation, later canceled, on the occasion of a victory anniversary in Montenegro's elections, the Montenegrin Government, instead of the current ambassador, Ylber Hysa, had invited former Ambassador Srdjan Sentiq.
In response to the invitation, the Kosovo Embassy had thanked Montenegro's prime minister, but had announced that Santiq was not ambassador for more than four years and offered to provide his information if the government of Montenegro wanted to invite him to this manifestation.
Montenegro's government was elected December 2020. The parliamentary majority consists of three coalition parties, where the largest party is the Democratic Front. This party has called for attracting recognition of Kosovo's independence.
Otherwise, an agreement has been reached in Brussels in 2012 between Kosovo and Serbia for Kosovo's regional representation, where the name Kosovo is used, a banner is also established. It is used mainly by states that do not recognise Kosovo.
