In the panel with other leaders of the Balkan region, Kurti cited the expectation of about 2,000 Afghans in Kosovo.
He said Kosovo is a poor country, but when it comes to humanitarian issues, they don't ask why, but just how.
Meanwhile, he stressed that partnership with the US for Kosovo is very important and strong.
“We believe that the EU should be protected and supported, to this end we must carry out reforms in our countries, but also move on with EU enlargement. The EU's future enlargement and our reforms go hand in hand, I believe, however, that there must be a series of reforms in the EU's decision-making system as well. The bravest steps will make it more possible. We've been waiting for about 2,000 Afghans in Kosovo, we're a poor country, but we believe that when it comes to humanitarian issues why, but just say like, plus partnership with the US, for us it's very important and very strong”, Kurti said.
For the need for the Western Balkans' inclusion in the EU, Kurti cited two facts that could benefit the two sides.
“I believe the inclusion of the six-point Western Balkans will have two major benefits for the two sides. First, the EU's external border will be reduced by thousands of kilometers, because we are not neighbouring the EU, but surrounded by the EU. In addition, one in three citizens of the 6 Western Balkan countries resides, not in their countries, but in the EU. So with the involvement of the Western Balkans in the EU our diaspora will live in the same space, and that will be very good for economy”, he said.
