“Sic shows experiences with this pandemic, no country should give up its defence. Self - indulgence can be as dangerous as the virus itself. We must keep on the watch,” Tedros Adhanom Ghebraesus said, speaking from Rome at a virtual regional O meeting Nepal's BSH.
O Chief BSH said that there had been some recommendations aimed at providing a better answer to combating pandemic. However, the most effective step and according to him can bring about the largest “change” in the future is finding the solution for all countries equally.
“A treaty or another international agreement on readiness and response to the pandemic, which would provide a very necessary basis for global co-operation by setting rules for a more co-ordinated response to future epidemics and pandemics,”, he said.
The distribution of vaccines has been extremely unfair. We are all disappointed in injustice. ”
Recently, Mr. Tedros has asked countries to prioritize the distribution of vaccines in countries where only 1% or 2% of the population has been vaccinated.
“We should never allow a pandemic on this scale,” he added to his comments in Nepal. “We should never allow an injustice of these dimensions. ”
Johns Hopkins University said early Monday it had registered 220.7 million global infections with COVID-19 and 4.6 million deaths. The centre said over 5.4 billion doses of vaccines have been administered.
