Foreign media have taken note of the crisis in Kosovo following the thousands of infections and dozens of deaths that occurred in recent days. Two dailys, “SonntagsZeitung” Swiss and “Heute” Austrian officials report how the government removed almost all restrictive measures by offering “streed” Delta virus, which spreads at great speed.
“SonntagsZeitung” in a long article writes how the next wave of Covid-19 erupted in Kosovo during the summer and that Switzerland was not prepared for exiles to return there, after a break without any restrictions in Kosovo. As “Heute” reports that in Kosovo it was an atmosphere of parties, highlighting the fact that discotheques and restaurants were packed, as well as weddings and parties were taking place everywhere.
“SonntagsZeitung” writes that in Pristina and other cities, there was an atmosphere in Mallorca. Discotecs, clubs, and restaurants were packed until the early hours of the morning. There were no precautions, hardly anyone wearing a mask.
“
Returners also brought the virus to Austria, in some cases with false PCR tests, as continues “Heute”.
Hundreds of crowded buses arrived in Switzerland late on vacation, and hardly any passenger wore a mask during the 20-hour trip. A testing certificate in general was not required by travelers. With rapid tests at bus stations, positives could have been identified and sent immediately to quarantine. However, they continued to spread the virus to Switzerland, especially in schools, which are now struggling with a large number of cases.
Kosovo is facing a serious situation with the coronary, as only yesterday were 36 people reported dead and over 1,000 and 600 infected. We also have over 26,000 active cases with COVID-19.
