CEC closes number of all ballot papers, decides to recount 185 locations

The Central Election Commission has managed within 10 days to complete the process of counting all ballots belonging to early elections for the Kosovo Assembly, held on June 7th, the Online Economy reports.
Recent ballots that were counted Wednesday belong to the post office voting outside Kosovo and to conditional voting, as well as to persons with special needs.
On this very day, in order to verify accuracy, The CEC has decided to recount 185 polling sites, whose ballots were pre-counted at the Municipal Counting Centres.
All these details have been made known by CEC spokesman Valmir Elezi, at a media conference closing the counting process at the Centre of Counting and Results.
“Today, on the 10th day after election day, the Central Election Commission has stepped up to complete the process of counting all ballots belonging to early elections for the Kosovo Assembly. At 2:30 today, Wednesday, June 17th, the count of all ballots belonging to the post office voting outside Kosovo has been closed, while the count of ballots from the conditional vote and persons with special needs has been closed at 18:30x1>, Elez said.
Furthermore, Elez has clarified when the CEC will be able to announce the final outcome of the June 7th elections. According to him, if there are no complaints within 48 hours of last day's counting management, then the CEC will announce these results.
“The right to complaint about management in the Municipal Counting Centre (QKN) and the Centre for Counting and Results (QNR) is a right that the parties have been able to use over and over again, within 48 hours of the alleged violation. Even for the counting management on the last day, according to the Law on General Elections, complaints could be handed down in writing to the Election Panel for Anxiety and Paradise within 48 hours of the alleged violation. If within 48 hours there will be no complaints about the management of the count on the last day, the CEC is ready to proceed with the announcement of final results, while if there are complaints, then the CEC will host the decision making of relevant institutions and implement the decisions if they impose the CEC and only then can declare final results”, Elez said.
Elez indicated that during Wednesday day, The CEC has held electronic meetings, where it has decided to recalculate 185 regular locations whose ballots have been counted in advance in the Communist Center.
“Also, today during the day, the Central Election Commission has made a decision to recount the ballots of 185 regular locations, which were previously counted in the Municipal Counting Centres. This number makes up 7.41% of the pollings from a total of 2,498 regular locations in which the vote was held on June 7th 2026. This measure of control has been taken by the CEC to address the problems recorded in some of the Municipal Counting Centres during the number of votes of MPs from last December elections, and aims to ensure that the count has been conducted with accuracy”, Elez said.
Elez has recalled the main activities the institution has held during the period of June 8, 2026, after holding elections.
According to him, the 38 Municipal Counting Centres have made the verification of the results of political subjects from the forms completed at 2,498 regular deployments, as well as the count of votes of candidates for MPs from these seats.
Meanwhile, counting of ballots from the vote to Kosovo's diplomatic representatives has been held at the Counting and Results Centre. It's 47 seats set up at 30 diplomatic representations, where on June 6th, some 23 thousand Kosovo citizens voted. Also, the count of some 830,000 ballot ballots has been reached.
Elez has made it known that the count of around 8,700 bail ballotes from 52 conditional polling has been carried out in the CNR, as well as the count of about 1,840 ballot papers by persons with special needs./ Periscope.
