The National Council has widely adopted a motion proposing some amendments to the criminal law concerning the expulsion of foreigners who commit crimes in Switzerland, Swiss media write, records albinfo.ch.
The motion proposes three options:
First, the Public Prosecutor's Office should be authorized to order deportation in small cases.
Today, only one court can make that decision. Second, foreign defendants without permission stay or enter Switzerland only with the intention of committing a crime should no longer be entitled to protection.
Recently, the list of works should be revised to exclude small ones; this includes offences that lead to forced deportation, especially when they were carried out by foreign youths who grew up in Switzerland.
