This was the first time to hold this religious ceremony since the postwar, for which there were numerous reactions, except from local institutions.
Professor and analyst Blerim Latifi has said the Serbian Orthodox Church managed to convey a political message against three important dates for Albanians.
“It is no coincidence nothing why the Serbian Orthodox Church has chosen June 10th to keep liturgy at the Milosevic Church in Pristina. June 10th is the date of the founding of the Prizren League, the first Albanian national organisation. June 10th is the starting date for the departure of the Serbian Army and police from Kosovo, after signing their surrender in Kumanovo on 9 June 1999. June 10th is the date when during his visit to Tirana in June 2007, President Bush announced the world that Kosovo's independence is a work done.
And as he developed a liturgy in the heart of Pristina, in a church whose cornerstone had placed Arkan himself, the Serbian Orthodox Church wanted and managed to convey a political message against these three dates. Even under our noses and with the permission of our poor state institutions”, Latif wrote on Facebook.
