Serbia's president, Aleksandar Vuciq, in an interview for the Czech portal, “Parliamentin list” has said Kosovo President Vjosa Osmani is interested in compromise.
Vuciq said Osmani at the Brdo-Brijun summit held in Slovenia has spoken of everything else except compromise.
It is important for us to hold talks and we are interested in finding a compromise solution. I was now in Brdo near Kranj in Slovenia at the Southeast European summit, where I met Vjosa Osmani, who expressed interest in everything except a compromise solution for Kosovo. If their goal is to expect someone to pressure Serbia to recognise Kosovo's independence and file charges of genocide against Serbia and do not know what else, then I am not an optimist. All this shows that the other side is not interested in dialogue. If we can successfully reach a compromise solution, I don't know right now and I don't see it as an optimist. I hope one day we'll succeed”, Vuciq said.
Serbia's president said he does not expect changes in attitude towards Kosovo and Serbia following the arrival of US President Joe Biden's administration.
“America has recognised Kosovo and does not want to give up in that direction. Understandably, the United States will continue to pressure Serbia, or I should not talk about pressure, but about the requirement to recognise Kosovo's independence. But this is a category in American foreign policy that is not changing and I do not expect any change to us”, Vuciq said.
