Love knows no war: Albanian from Shkodra, Serbian Dragan confess marriage

Serbian Blitz has dedicated an article to an Albanian woman and her marriage to a Serb.

The article is based on differences in cultures between the two countries and the adjustments created by families.

Shkodra's Victor shows in confession the difficulties she faced in the moment she arrived in Serbia, while adding that everything is already simple and completely integrated.

Encouraged by unusual social rules, which say it is a great shame for a woman to remain unmarried, a large number of Albanian women in recent years have decided to seek happiness outside their country's borders and marry miles away from home, often married to Serbs. 13 years ago, Viktora Vida Jakovljevic decided to leave Shkodra and move to the village of Srednja Reka in Golija to marry Dragan.

When I came here for three months, I cried every day. I was in someone else's house, I didn't know language, and she said nothing. And the husband added: It was very difficult for me, but I tried to be so strong to increase my faith.

But it all began to change when Vida learned the language, so everything became easier for her to help adjust to her new environment.

I like Serbia now, I'm used to laughing and swearing. I know everything. I can pray.

I learned to cook traditional Serbian dishes. Byreca, baklava nut or apple. I know all this.

I like mushrooms better, and I'm not afraid if any gold comes to eat me. Bears eat weak people, they don't want me, Mahx0...

But Dragan is not the only one from this village who married an Albanian woman.

I have a cousin who also married an Albanian and has three children. I would advise them to marry Albanians,“he added.
