The deputy chairman of the Democratic League of Kosovo, Lutfi Haziri, has confirmed for TIME that they will vote for the president, following the withdrawal of changes in the Election Law by the Vetevendosje Movement. The LDK had decided days earlier at the party's chairmanship to attend the Vjosa Osmani voting session for presidents. It had left them in the hands of MPs to decide on the issue, and immediately questions were added that some of the MPs would respect the party's position and would participate in the session to make the quorum Osmani.
On Friday, the VV and Kurti government initiated changes to the Law for Elections. After this initiative failed to continue in accelerated procedure, the LDK demanded that this law be withdrawn otherwise são. On Saturday at noon after a meeting of Chief Parliamentary Glauk Konjufca with the prime minister and presidential contender, it was decided to continue with these changes to have co-operation with the opposition and urged the opposition to stay in the hall to avoid new elections.
Vetevendosje as alone has 58 votes. Even some non-Serb minority votes to elect Osman certainly need LDK votes in order to achieve the 80-vote binding quorum for electing the president. The support of 2/3 of deputies is required in the third round, while a minimum vote of 61 is required, but on the condition that at least 80 MPs participate in the vote.
