Zana Avdiu, Kosovo activist, has shared a touching story that happened three years ago.
On International Roma Day, she shared a story with a girl of this nationality who has come to demand a bark.
Three years ago, at one of the locals in the mess, a little Roma girl was bringing in, asking for money. I, I, uh, put my hand on her cheeks, I touched her hair and asked her how old she is? She took off her head and said, "Why did you touch me? I said, "Why don't you want to touch it anymore? She says no, but I'm a witch. You don't touch me! Imagine, a little girl five or six years old, being stuck in her head. She's used to living with the fact that she's just a beggar and a different one, which you can't even touch” Zana wrote.

Three years ago, in one of the locals on the ground, a little Roma girl was bringing in, looking for money.
She's used to living with the fact that she's just a beggar and a different one, which can't even touch her.
We, as friends, have isolated them, we have removed them from access to education, employment, health and cultural life. We know that the state doesn't do much for this community, but neither does society.
For us, it's normal if a little Roma kid is a beggar, it's normal if those kids don't have education, it's normal when someone's being abused, insulted, ignored. It's normal for them to live in extreme fucalac, it's normal to have no food and clothing. And it's become normal for us to try to convince them.
International Roma Day, they're in a very serious state, just like every other year. They don't need the wishes of politicians, but for your job of creating opportunities to live a normal and dignified life, as they deserve.
This is their serious situation, and none of us can act like everything's fine.
Happy Roma Day, I wish from now on we would do something more for you, and give you what you deserve, just like everyone else.
