The Italian government has blocked the export of vaccines developed by Oxford and AstraZeneca to Australia.
The decision affects 250 thousand doses, which were produced in this country.
Italy thus becomes the first European Union to use the new regulation, allowing the ban on remittances if companies have not met their obligations to the bloc.
This move by the Italian government is supported by the European Commission.
AstraZeneca is towards handing over 40% of vaccines agreed on with the EU for the first three months of this year. The company says problems in producing doses have caused this lack in completing the contract.
