Serbian President Aleksandar Vuciq has reacted after Milan Radojic, Zvonko Veselinovic and 11 other Serbs from Kosovo have been placed on the US Treasury Department's list of sanctions on December 8th.
Serbia's president has said that relevant Serbian organs will investigate everything, if there are serious “acles against them”. At a news conference, Vucic said he has accepted an informal report from the US Embassy about the decision.
They initially charged them with illegal trade. In the end, they will accuse them of not respecting the border between Kosovo and Serbia, but that is nothing new. If serious accusations exist, our state bodies will investigate”, Vuciq said.
The Serbian president added that he fears the “that such a document could be accepted even for some people in much higher positions in the region”.
So will we react like that? All that we accept with any indication that someone committed any criminal acts, our responsible bodies will be willing at the same time to verify everything” said Vuciq.
Vuciq also denied that the Serbian Progressive Party (SNS), at whose helm it is, has received money from Zvonko Veselinovic.
No dinars has given us as much as I do for others. The party he led has more than enough money thanks to state means and membership. These are our main sources. We don't need any more money”, Vucinic concluded.
The US Treasury Department has placed on the list of sanctions, the deputy head of the Serbian List, unlike the main Serb party in Kosovo, MIlan Radojic, businessman from northern Kosovo, Zvonko Veselinovic, his brother, Zarko and 10 other related persons.
With their introduction to the list of sanctions, their property is largely blocked and American citizens are forbidden to cooperate with them.
US Secretary of State Antony Blinken said that “these sanctions target the perpetrators of corruption, in line with Executive Order 138181818x1>, which is based on the Global Act of Awareness for Human Rights, known as the Magnitsky Act.
