Although the main issue of discussion is very serious, the possibility of a war in Ukraine seemed relaxed, at least by images published by Russian news agencies.
Biden also had a number of technical problems, since he did not turn on the microphone and was seen waving his Russian counterpart.
Hello, Mr. President”. Afterward, Biden was seen pressing the audio button and saying: “Hello, I'm glad to see you again”
The call began at 10:07 a.m. on Washington and 18:07 according to Moscow. Local media there were not allowed to attend the conversation.
This is one of Biden's greatest efforts to diplomaticly resolve the crisis that is escalating day-to-day in Ukraine. Beden is expected to warn Putin of the consequences of the invasion of Ukraine. While the Russian leader has said earlier that he requires guarantees from the West that NATO will no longer expand to the east.
