Justice Minister Albulen Haxhiu has announced that she has reached agreement with the Danish state on renting 300 Gjilan prison cells.

From this agreement, Kosovo will benefit 210m euros.

Based on the Justice Ministry announcement, this agreement is envisioned to find full implementation in the period of ten years.

Otherwise, Denmark's Justice Minister Nick Haekkerup has stated that this is being done in order to expand Denmark's prison capacities, Nyhyeder reports.

“We have a lack of over a thousand seats in the Danish Prison and Pre-prison Service by 2025. I'm happy to say that with a mutual agreement we're dealing with this case”.

Among other things, we agreed that work should be completed for borrowing cells in Kosovo to deport prisoners from third countries. We're extending Danish prisons for short and long term”, Haekkerup said.
