The space agency introduced six men and four women to a ceremony in Houston, where mission control and the body of astronauts are located.
More than 12,000 applications were accepted for the competition and 10 selected in their 30s and 40s, expected two years of training to qualify for space flight.
In addition to military pilots, astronaut candidates include a medical physicist, a marine robot, a NASA operator that started Space X and a bioindigner who was champion of cycling. Two astronauts from the United Arab Emirates will be trained with them.
NASA has admitted 360 people into its astronaut body since 1959, when it selected seven for flight to the first US space ship under the “Mercrey” project. The previous selection of astronauts was in 2017.
NASA plans to send astronauts to the moon late in 2025.
