According to the announcement the protest will begin at 1: 00 this Monday, while the other two requirements are the 24-hour electricity supply and the nationalisation of KED.
Numerous citizens have complained against the government, as it has said the reductions would range from 2 hours at specific times but that they last up to 24 hours and that such a situation is expected to last for another two months.
Also in the report, KED is said to be failing in fulfilling obligations for electricity supply 24/7 and that such a failure the Government is billing on citizens by subsidizing KEDS with 20m euros from public money.
According to them, such a crisis should not be left in the hands of the private sector, as it is failing to meet even the essential services.
Full announcement:
We invite all citizens of Kosovo to join us in nationwide protests against manipulations and the continued responsibility of KED to Kosovo citizens.
KEDS and Government have brought darkness back to Kosovo. During this week, the Government and KED informed us that electricity reductions will be restored due to the energy crisis. According to their official announcement, reductions would be from 2 hours at specific times. Despite these reports, power reductions are lasting up to 24 hours. And this situation, according to Government announcement, is expected to last the next two months.
KEDS, the leading electricity distributor in Kosovo, is failing to fulfil its commitments to supply 24/7 of all citizens/people by leaving us in the dark. On the other hand, this failure the Government is billing on us, subsidizing it. KEDS with 20m euros from public money.
This crisis, except that it is paralyzing every aspect of social and economic functioning, is showing that essential services should not be left in the hands of the private sector. So on Monday, starting at 1: 00 p.m., we gather near KED in protest of this alarming situation and ask:
1. Current 24/7;
2. Minister Rizvanolli's dismissal;
3. KED Nationalization
The protest begins near the KED facility to continue at the Government building.
