The human rights group, Karenn, said it found the burned bodies of internally displaced persons, including elderly, women and children, killed by the ruling military, near the village of Mo Sot town of Hpruso on Saturday.
“We strongly condemn the inhumane and brutal murder, which violates human rights”, said in a Facebook group post.
Myanmar's military said it has killed an inaccurate number of subx0-terrorists with weapons” by the government armed forces in this village, state media reported. He told them that these people were in seven vehicles and did not stop the army.
Photos distributed by the human rights group and local media showed burning remains of bodies on several vehicles.
Karenn's National Protection Force, one of the largest civilian militant groups fighting against the military government, said the dead were not members of it, but civilians seeking refuge from the conflict.
A village resident, who asked not to be published for security reasons, said he was aware of the fire Friday evening but could not go to the scene because there were shots.
