Through a Twitter report, the Belgrade-based Institute for International Security warns that in January, the United States will impose sanctions on some politicians and businessmen from Serbia, “Republika Srpska”, Montenegro and Kosovo.
The measures, according to this institute, will be set based on “Magicy Act”. “Danas” has contacted the head of this institution, Orhan Dragas, who explained that in the target of sanctions, there will be about 50 people from the Balkans.
He stressed that this only has to do with individuals and that there are no sanctions against states, while he added that in Bulgaria such measures were proven very effective.
According to Dragas, the warning of sanctions is in line with what US Special Envoy for the Western Balkans Gabriel Escobar recently declared.
During his visit to the region, the senior official said sanctions against politicians are a real possibility.
“and not only sanctions, there are other economic means that can be applied not only to leaders who conduct anti-Dayton activities, but also to those who support them and to companies that help”, Drag added.
