Environment, Spatial Planning and Infrastructure Minister Lieburn Aliu has today announced that they are at the conclusion of the Pristina-Durra Railway Plan, which, according to him, will place Kosovo at the regional transit centre for goods.
At a media conference, Aliu said that after the memorandum of co-operation with Albania and the visit to Italy, this railway is taking its course.
He said that very soon there will be a feasibility study where time, cost, and railway transfer are highlighted.
This project is taking its course and we are in phases when we can map out the plan, which will soon end and clearly give us time and cost for this project. The transmission of this railway will also be clear after the feasibility study. We have allocated 1m euros for this study,” he said.
Otherwise, for the governments of Albania and Kosovo, the planned Durres-Pristina railway also has geopolitical significance, not just economic.
Prime Minister Albin Kurti has declared that the Durres-led railway line Pristina “is as much of an economic importance as geopolitical, as it helps the region, our neighbours, with which we have a common past, but we will share the future”.
