Migrant troops, including a baby and two women, were found late Saturday in two separate locations in the coastal town of Khoms, about 90km from Tripoli, the Red Halfha branch said there. Tutj became aware that three other immigrants were saved and efforts to find others are under way.
Images published by Libyan media showed bodies lined up along the coast and then placed in body bags. Migrants are likely dead in the recent flooding of ships in Libya -- a key point from which African and Asian immigrants from where they leave -- who make desperate efforts to reach Europe, writes Aljazeera, broadcast Klankosova.tv.
About 1,000 and 500 immigrants have been killed in numerous boat accidents and ship floods on the central Mediterranean route this year, according to the UN immigration agency.
The latest tragedy comes just days after 160 immigrants died within a week in similar incidents, bringing the total number of lives lost this year to 1,000 and 500, according to the International Organisation for Migration (IOM).
The IOM says more than 30,000 migrants have been detained in the same period and have returned to Libya. The European Union has closely co-operated with Libya's Coast Guard to reduce the number of migrants arriving on the European coast.
