Zaev had resigned on October 31st due to his party's deep defeat in local elections.
He had not resigned to the Northern Macedonia Assembly, while on the evening of November 9th, the LSDM's highest bodies decided that Zaev's resignation would be delayed, due to what it said, “the situation in which the country is”.
Because of the situation in which the country is located, the party's Central Committee decided to postpone resignation. Party organs unanimously decided to postpone the resignation until the situation is resolved in the country. After many years of regime, the state has been built on real democratic and lyrical values with principles of coexistence. The LSDM is being raised to that task and will work in the interest of citizens”, declared Pero Kostadinov, a member of LSDM leadership.
He did not specify how long Zaev's resignation will be delayed, but said Northern Macedonia faces major challenges, including expectations for starting membership talks with the European Union.
Kostadinov did not even speak of the opposition's initiative for the government's vote of confidence, or whether the majority has enough votes to survive the motion.
The assembly session is scheduled for Thursday, but unofficially it becomes known that it could be postponed for Saturday due to a new initiative.
The Macedonian opposition party, V MRO- The DPMNE announced on November 8th that it has secured the 61 deputies' signatures for the government's no-confidence vote, but one of the MPs, Skender Rexhepi from the Alternative Party, withdrew the signing with the argument that it does not want to be part of this initiative, which included “E Majta”, accused by Albanian parties and the LSDM of anti-Western and anti-Albanian positions.
VMRO-DPMNE has offered MP Rexhepi 19 MPs to undertake a initiative without the party “E May” The issue is expected to clarify the positions of the parties during November 10th, when it will also be known whether the session will be held Thursday or Saturday.
The government's collapse requires 61 MPs' votes from 120 to the North Macedonia Assembly.
