Valentin Georgiev from Sandanski, who works as a courier, was launched Monday evening from Sofia to Blagojgrad.
I thought the forest was burning. The flames were huge. Not to lie, but it could be 2-3 meters. The fire was big”, Georgiev said.
When he approached, he saw a bus burning. He is also the first eyewitness to the tragedy. Police and firemen arrived after him at the scene.
My truck was about 100 meters away. I was the first, and after 5-10 minutes there came a second, third and fourth car... a lot of trucks gathered. When I got out of the truck, I heard screams. Survivors shouted and cried, their faces covered with blood”, relates Valentin Georgiev.
He rushed to help. The first thing he saw was a man trying to save his girlfriend.
He shouted: Police, police. He held the girl by her arm and then let her go. I think he'd hurt his leg because he was limping and he dropped him on the street. I took the girl down the highway, I think she broke both legs. It was bare, no socks. The other girl was cold, I gave her my jacket to warm up. I also gave him water”, he adds.
Meanwhile, a father was trying to save his son from the flames.
“was shouting that the boy was inside. He tried to get into the fire to save his son, but I stopped”, Georgiev points out.
The fire department arrived 20 minutes later. Behind them are ambulances.
Emil Metodiev also tried to help by repeatedly calling 112. He stored a construction site near the site of the accident. He was also the first to call for help.
I think the front tire exploded. A few seconds after the blast, flames emerged. At the time of the bus stop, it was burning. Not just forward, back everywhere. When they arrived from the fire station, bus damage was evident. Those on the bus, I don't think they could get off. Such a thing is not forgotten”, he said.
