Szunyog: Build trust with EU member states to abolish visas

EU Ambassador to Kosovo Thomas Szunyog, in his address to the Kosovo Assembly at the seventh meeting of the Parliamentary Commission for Stabilisation and Association between the European Union and Kosovo, has said MEPs of the European Parliament and the Kosovo Parliament must continue to build confidence with EU member states to [...]

“We are aware of the importance of visa liberalisation for Kosovo citizens. The European Commission report and EC President von Der Leeyen are very clear at this point, the Commission stands behind the 2018 recommendation that Kosovo has met all criteria for visa liberalisation. The European Commission's proposal is also supported by the European Parliament, but is still under consideration at the EU Council. I count on supporting all European Parliament deputies and Kosovo Assembly deputies to continue building confidence with EU member states so that this goal can finally be achieved”, Ambassador Szunyog has said.

He said he encourages the new government to continue working on European reforms.

“I have the honor of addressing you here in the Assembly on behalf of EU High Representative Josep Borelli at the 7th meeting for the SAA. This meeting met again in two years. The government enjoys considerable majority, and I encourage them to continue working on European reforms”, he said.
