Putin says next year will be hypersonic rocket “Zircon”

Russia's president, Vladimir Putin, said Wednesday that testing hypersonic missile “Zircon” is nearing completion and that the first missiles will be given to sea forces in 2022. Russia last month said it has successfully tested a “Zircon” type rocket for the first time by a submarine, Reuters writes.
“Now is especially important to develop and implement the necessary technologies for the creation of new hypersonic weapons systems, powerful lasers and robotic systems that will be able to deal effectively with possible military threats, which means they will further strengthen the security of our country”, the Russian president said.
According to him, the new missile has successfully hit targets on land and sea during testing, either by ships or by underwater space.
Some Western experts have questioned how advanced the Russian weapon of the new generation is, but have acknowledged that combining speed, ability to maneuver and height of hypersonic missiles makes it difficult to convey and stumble.
These missiles fly at at least five times higher than the speed of sound in the upper layer of the atmosphere, or about 200 miles [6,200 km] per hour. This speed, however, is lower than that of the intercsecting ballistic missile.
