The vaccine was sequenced at a Madrid hospital and the patient was in good condition, but the Ministry of Health gave no more comments.
Sweden's state health agency has reported that a case of omitron infection has also been discovered in this Scandinavian country.
The sample is a week ago by an infected person who also came from South Africa, the state agency said.
