EU envoy for dialogue Miroslav Lajcak will also be in Belgrade. While Prime Minister Edi Rama, US envoy for the Balkans Gabriel Escobar and North Macedonia Deputy Prime Minister Nikola Dimitrov will join the conference online.
This initiative has been rejected by Kosovo, Bosnia and Montenegro. Internationals have insisted on an initiative involving all six Western Balkan countries, but the participating countries have indicated they refuse to be hostage to the positions of states that have refused.
The line of “Open Balkan” was questioned following Macedonian Prime Minister Zoran Zaev's resignation, but he and Dimitrov representing the MV have indicated that Northern Macedonia will continue to be part of the initiative.
The next meeting will take place at the end of December in Tirana, while it is promised that after a year and a half there will be no obstacles to the border. Prime Minister Edi Rama describes the fact that this is an important initiative for the countries involved, stressing that it promotes the development of the economy.
