Lack of ID production material by late November

For the past few months, Kosovo citizens are failing to provide IDs, due to the lack of material for this document. Therefore, citizens complain that they are waiting for months to be supplied with identification.

“Today we must wait in line to apply for identification. 40 minutes I've been waiting, and we're told that we should wait because there's no ID material or we're not sure to travel alone with the application sheet because it's expired. Three months ago I applied for ID, I was told there was no material. I applied in July and still equipped with document”, a citizen said.

Meanwhile, by officials at the Ministry of Internal Affairs, they have indicated that the material supply for the production of identification is expected to take place at the end of November, while by then, the country's citizens can only serve with applicant sheets.

In this regard, the MPB minister has made the decision, through which it allows for the use of identification, regardless of the validity deadline, in all Kosovo's public and private institutions. The Civil Recording Agency since August 05th 2021 also allows Kosovo ID equipment to any citizen who presents evidence that he will travel through Serbia, whether the return ticket or evidence that has entered Kosovo through Serbia.

In that response, it is also said that by the end of November, they will accept the next supply, while by December the process of equipping citizens with IDs will be stabilised. / RTK/
