It was Escobar, who again expressed American access to the initiative.
“Support for the Balkan Open will take place on the basis of conditions for the initiative to be opened for all”, Escobar stressed during the summit. “Equal membership is needed, not distraction from European aspirations”.
Among other things, the US envoy recorded the fact that without all six participating countries, it cannot succeed for the Balkan Open.
On the other hand, Prime Minister Rama has questioned the unification of the three remaining Balkan countries in the initiative. According to him, it is not up to Albania, Serbia and Northern Macedonia, whether they joined.
It's not up to us to convince someone that the Balkan Open is open. We must move forward, we cannot wait. It is up to everyone to make their own decisions”, he underlined.
The head of the Government also stressed that all was happening was the implementation of the Berlin process. And every country independently decides what it wants for itself.
He, however, thanked the United States for the support given to the initiative. According to Rama, their support is natural.
Among other things, the requirement to convince the other three countries, he addressed directly to large partners, the US and the European Union.
I would be happy to have two allies and partners encourage others to join (the initiative). I have never heard from Vucic that he does not want Kosovo on the table. “Open Balkans” do not become the caricature of structures known as”, he concluded.
