The showing of the new omitron variant has triggered global reactions because everyone is concerned that the new type could spread quickly even among the vaccines, Reuters reports.
As a result, travel restrictions and other epidemiological restrictions worldwide have been reintroduced.
From BioNTech came the confirmation that the company, in co-operation with Pfizer partners, started working on a vaccine adapted to the omitron variant.
Meanwhile, Moderna's executive chief, Stefan Bansel, told CNBC that the handover of the new vaccine could last several months, announcing that after nearly two weeks, the degree to which existing vaccines are effective against the omitron variant should be known.
J&J is also assessing the effectiveness of the existing vaccine against COVID-19 in the case of Omitron version infection and is at the same time looking for a specific vaccine.
“We have started work on drafting and developing a new vaccine against omicron and will advance rapidly and start clinical studies if necessary,” said Matai Mamen, head of the J&J Global Research Department.
An expert on infectious diseases from South Africa said that omitron, a variant of the coronary, seems to be more transmitted than previous variants, even to people with immunity earned by vaccine or after an earlier infection.
