At Bijaca School in Croatia, Albanian language is first studied

The school has currently formed two parallel classes of students who will follow Albanian-language lessons, the parallel cathedral and the course led by Professor Vesel Lekaj, which also provides Albanian-language instruction at Zara School, respectively. Thus, the Bijacheva primary school is the only school in Split-Dalmaci County that offers the opportunity [...]

“Ide for introducing the Albanian language as an elective subject has been launched spontaneously, but without the goodwill of parents and children it would not be possible. I spoke with Chairman Denis Ivanov, who supported him and then started with a survey at school. A certain number of children gathered for the formation and approval of the Ministry of Education. The ministry approved and gave consent to the employment of Albanian-language teachers and without the crown they would have started learning last year” He said Jadranka ♫i, principal of the school, adding that attitude toward minorities should be distinctive and believes that this is a good start together.

Asked whether other schoolchildren in Castela will be able to take part in learning the Albanian language, dealt with by saying there is no interest at the moment from other school students, which does not mean they will remain. The new co-operation was enthusiastically welcomed, especially by the chairman of the Split-Dalmaci Albanian Community of District, Milayim ʼukaj, who believes that even in Split classes for Albanian language learning will be formed because there is interest in children.

This is a truly historic event for us because for the first time children are able to learn their native language, not forget it, and renew culture and tradition. Thank you, primary school principal Bijaića, Jadranka ãošić, who helped us greatly to enable this event so that children can attend the Albanian-language lesson, said ♫ukaj, who shared his satisfaction with the gathered parents and children, future Albanian-language students.
