Although there are currently only 335 active cases in Kosovo, while even the positiveness of daily cases from new tests turns out to be at an extremely low percentage, with most cases failing to reach 1 per cent, measures are expected to be reassessed.

In the communiqué issued by the Ministry of Health, announcing the meeting of the Committee for Co-ordination and Rating of the COVID-19 situation, it is said that given the epidemiological situation and variations in circulation, the measures will be reviewed over the next week.

Following the epidemiological situation related to COVID-19, variants in circulation and , with the aim of protecting public health of the population, over the next week the measures will be reviewed in force and will take other measures, according to the need and developments related to COVID-19.”, the communiqué says.

The released communiqué also mentions Delta and Delta Plus variants, but also the new version of COVID-19, Omitorn (B.1.1.529), which was first registered in Africa and then in several European countries.

The “Pjese of this meeting, in which it has been discussed developments following the identification of the new coronary variant, Omitron (B.1.1.529) originally in Africa and then even in several states outside the continent, has been virtually Health Minister Rifat Latifi, who is abroad. The meeting concluded that the pandemic situation in countries in the region, Europe and wider have deteriorated in recent weeks and, despite the fact that in Kosovo the number of cases of COVIID-19 is small in recent weeks, the situation is unstable, in particular given the fact that there are two variants in circulation (varianti Delta still dominant and the Delta Plus version), while the first information speaks that the next version of SARS COV-2, Omitron, is characterized by multiple mutations, rapid spread, and there is little information about its resistance to vaccines. To that end, it was urged by the country's citizens to implement measures in force, to be vaccinated until responsible institutions, such as Kosovo Police and responsible inspectors, were required to carefully monitor and undertake all necessary actions for implementing measures and decisions in the application of the Law for preventing and fighting the COVID-19 pandemic in the Republic of Kosovo, in all branches of the economy and educational and institutional activities. ” was written in communiqué.

In the last 24 hours in Kosovo, only 6 positive cases have been recorded, 5 patients have recovered, while the number of tests has been 1514, and the positiveness of cases only 0.39 per cent.

For the past few weeks, Kosovo is continuing to have low figures regarding new cases of COVID-19 and deaths as a result of this virus, but according to reports, measures are expected to be toughed in favour of preventing and combating new variants with COVID-19.

Recently, the number of people who are being vaccinated has also dropped sharply in Kosovo. Until months ago, the rate of vaccination has accelerated markedly, it now seems that citizens have begun to relax and boycott the process.
