Von Croamon: Kosovo is example of democracy in region

Elections in Kosovo have also been followed by the European Union.

Violet Von Croamon, the European Parliament's delegation of members, generally praised the election process, has passed efficiently, without incident, though election campaigns have been competitive.

She added that in these elections it has proved that Kosovo is a true democracy.

EP delegation leader Gjihasthu has added that systemic shortcomings, however, have not yet been recorded in Kosovo.

“Today, Kosovo more than ever is an example of democracy for the region. Unfortunately, though, some systematic shortcomings have not yet been averted. One of these is narrowing the political space for Serbs. The Serbian list has dominated and has left no room for other Serb parties. Most conversationators have said the legal framework should be changed to improve campaign financing from the local level, which lowers corruption. There is still room for improvement for gender equality”.

The same has been asked about visa liberalisation, while he has said he is working hard in that direction and that maturity shown during the election process will be assessed by Brussels.
