The European Commission in the latest progress report has said Albania has made progress in reforms, but on the other hand there is no result in the country's integration.
Prime Minister Edi Rama said today that Albania has achieved the results, but it is the EU that is failing to reach them.
“There is a signature to be highlighted in the word result. In fact, Albania has achieved the results it must achieve at this stage, it is the EU that is not achieving results. The results Albania has achieved are in the report. If we continue reforms and the EC, which is the only objective judge in this process, if we continue to make progress, these advances do not make us going to take the exam, but to stay here, for Albania to become better”, Rama said.
While EU Ambassador to Tirana Louis Soreca was asked by reporters what Albania must do most to sit at the first intergovernmental conference. He stressed that it is already time for the EU to keep its promise.
I think integration occurs day-to-day, and Albania is being integrated into the EU, thanks to productive exchanges that take place even on the side of EU financial assistance. For further steps, I have been extremely clear that Albania has yielded results and now is the time for the EU to keep its promise, so member states will read the report and find the strengths to pass those bilateral issues for Albania and Northern Macedonia to sit at that table”, said Ambassador Sorica.
