Kosovo police on Wednesday have held an anti-muggling action in four regions of the country. Until other action regions ended peacefully, the situation was tense in northern Mitrovica. There were protests and hand grenades by Serbian residents who rejected police action.
During yesterday's action, police have indicated that various goods, worth hundreds of thousands of euros, which serve as material evidence.
“Pristine, Peja, Mitrovica South, North Mitrovica, and Zvecan 13,10,2021 It has been reported that the Directorate of Investigation of Organised Crime in co-operation with Kosovo Customs, assisted by various relevant police units, with a warrant issued by the courts, have checked-assited in the Czech locations aimed at fighting smuggling. During the operation at several different locations, different residential and local homes have been found and seized: various goods, which serve as material evidence worth hundreds of thousands of $”, police have announced.
During yesterday's action, ten police officials have been injured, who were attacked by a group of protesters who used firearms, hand grenades, gas canisters and others.
“During the implementation of the operation in northern Mitrovica and Zvecan from a group of protesters by attacking and obstructing the task have blocked roads by means of transport vehicles, using firearms, hand grenades, gas bombs, shock bombs, and others, with body injuries having suffered ten police officers who have accepted medical treatment, while material damage has been caused in some official” vehicles, police reported.
From yesterday's action, eight people have been accompanied to the police, five of whom have been sent to maintenance, while three others have been released in regular procedure.
“Regarding the case, eight male suspects have been accompanied by police who, after interviewing the five Kosovo male prosecutor's decision, have been sent to maintenance, while the other three have been released in regular procedure. Ten other suspects have been declared on the run. The case continues to be investigated”, police have announced.
