The president, Vjosa Osmani, hosted a delegation of the EU Election Monitoring Mission at the meeting.

The delegation, led by Eurodeputate Lucas Mandle and EuroDeputate Violet von Cremon, was also made up of Rosa Thund Hohestein (EPP), Ms Michèle Rivas (Greens/ EFA), Thijs Reuten (S&D), as well as a number of EU experts.

President Osmani praised the prosperity of local elections by confirming the standard built by the Republic of Kosovo for holding free and democratic elections. In turn, she underlined that according to information coming from our institutions, the race in Serb-run municipalities was influenced by the restrictions of Serbia's illegal structures, which have violated the race between political subjects and the free expression of voter will.

Thanking them for their presence and willingness to stay close to Kosovo at every step of consolidating democracy in the country, President Osmani expressed gratitude for the positive response accepted by the European Parliament and praised the presence of this delegation in monitoring the elections.

As far as local elections are concerned, the delegation praised the election process as a democratic process, characterised by a high professionalism and integrity of institutions, but also its citizens of the Republic of Kosovo.

At the meeting, President Osmani also discussed the work of institutions of the Republic of Kosovo in the field of rule of law, the visa liberalisation process, the need for further empowerment of women and youth, as well as other topics.
