More than 30,000 files show that Australia, China, Saudi Arabia and India are among the countries that have asked a scientific panel to remove key phrases or ease the need to stop using fuel, reports Independent, Periscope.
In one case, major meat producers such as Brazil and Argentina have reportedly disputed claims that the world must reduce meat consumption in order to challenge global warming.
India and other Eastern European states had said that the draft report should be more positive for nuclear powers, while Australian officials had opposed the idea that coal stations should be closed.
The Cop26 summit, to be held in Glasgow after less than two weeks, is expected to bring more ambitious plans to challenge the climate crisis.
But the flow of documents indicates that behind the scenes, many of the major pollutants are trying to limit what can be achieved.
