Seven US congressmen have sent a letter to President Joe Biden and Secretary of State Antony Blinken for the recent tension created between Kosovo and Serbia on the reciprocity of the license plates.
Ritchie Torres, Jim Hymes, Elissa Slotkin, Joe Courtney, Mandtaire Jones, Coroline B. Malone and James P. GcGovern urges the US to focus on resolving tension between the two countries in the Balkans.
“As developed by the disproportion of Serbia's military power, we ask you to re-exemplifies that the US will be guaranteed that our ally Kosovo will receive fair treatment and recognition as independent state”, it says on paper.
In the letter, he stressed that after the tension for reciprocity of the plates, Serbia mobilised its forces at the border with Kosovo.
Congressmen say Serbia has most military equipment from its ally, Russia, and the Russian ambassador's presence in army mobilisation is also stressed.
The Russian Ambassador to Belgrade Aleksandar Botsan-Kharchenko visited the border (with Kosovo) on 26 September, along with Serbian Defence Minister Nebojsa Stefanovic and Serbian Army chief Milan Majsilovic”, said on paper.
Congress members ask the American president and his administration to support efforts to achieve a peace between Serbia and Kosovo, adding that Belgrade has consistently undermined Kosovo's legitimacy and sovereignty.
The five congressmen who have signed the letter are a member of the Albanian issue.
