The new BSPK chairman: Minimum wage to rise to 300 euros

Head unionist At and Hykoli is demanding minimum wage growth to 300 euros. He says that this issue is urgent and that the sooner it needs to change. This is one of his three top priorities as BSPK chairman, where he promises to sign collective wages and recognition of the work experience of [the...] workers.
He has even called on institutions to prevent citizens from leaving the country as the cause of low wages.
My principle that would make welfare better will be negotiating the collective contract that is very important, the minimum wage that is highly discriminatory. And if we talk about the minimum wage since 2011 hasn't changed, it hasn't negotiated. At this point I had made a call and prayer if we wanted to return people and not let them leave the country so that the decision could be made as soon as the minimum wage increases. I myself was part of the Social Economic Council and we talked many times and agreed with social partners that the minimum wage is 300 euros. But it has not been implemented by”, he says.
At and Hykoli, who was elected last week at the helm of the Union of Independent Trade Unions of Kosovo, says the law of the 1990s is not recognising the experience of work, and pensioners are not enjoying their rights.
That law does not allow them to enjoy a pension for the work it has done, but that law discriminates against it and eventually receives a pension we call aged”, he adds.
The editor-in-chief demands that unions join together and address workers' problems.
In my program when I presented it to delegates, one of the demands was that the unions we say are a little upset, we offer that maybe for a little bit they've taken different ways. The Union of Independent Trade Unions of Kosovo at the moment has many federations that make up most of the federations, but I am interested in meeting all the unions now and to sit down and work as a joint body and deal with it, to walk before”, he adds.
He also adds that the government's frequent shift has influenced the laws for workers to be blocked, therefore awaiting a meeting with government chief Albin Kurti.
“We hope that even the current government programme is a social programme, and we hope and normally we will dialogue with them and we will not expect to finalise the union requirements that have been helpful to the Government of Kosovo. Normally, we also have union actions, but we use them when we see that there is no other way. But we are praying that as soon as we have the meeting and walk on these demands that we have”, he concludes for Kosovas.
Days ago the new head of the Union of Independent Trade Unions of Kosovo was elected. At the 8th election congress, Prime Minister Albin Kurti had promised to raise the minimum wage to 250 euros. / KP
