Local authorities said the fire service has received more than 400 calls for evacuations or exchanges, while dozens of trees have collapsed causing damage to vehicles.

Traffic on the streets of Athens is chaotic, as well as many bridges and joints of the capital's main arteries have been flooded.

No human damage currently reported, even though authorities have appealed for citizens to avoid unnecessary movements over the next 24 hours, as rainfall is expected to continue.

Metereologians have announced a record amount of rainfall, which is expected to fall over the country's territory, reports Top Channel.

The “Balos” storm has almost affected the entire territory of the country, while authorities have raised the alarm, especially in the peripheral areas of Attic and Evia, which were burned by fire last summer.

By the Actic Prefecture's decision, it was decided that schools will be closed during Friday, while all civil protection forces have emerged on the ground, as well as the military and police have been put on alert.
