The Kosovo Medical Oda, on January 12th this year, has launched a legal letter to Prime Minister Avdullah Hoti and Health Minister Amend Zemaj, who has asked them to compensate for the families of doctors who have lost their lives at the helm of office.
They are demanding that children of health workers who have died during the pandemic, who are under 18 years of age, be compensated for between 1,000 and 500 euros a month.
While this Ode has become known today that Kosovo Prime Minister Alush Gashi's adviser has confirmed that Prime Minister Hoti has backed their request until they have asked the Ministry of Health to initiate procedures to draft the normous act for compensation of doctors' families and other health workers.
The chairman of this Ode, Pleatat Sejdiu, has told the Express that they have asked only children under 18 years of age to be compensated, not even those over that age, despite having lost their families.
He has said he has demanded that these children be separated between 1,000 and 500 euros a month until they are 18 years old.
The bottom line is for children of doctors who have lost their lives during the pandemic, who are under 18 years of age to keep paying until the age of 18. So pay only to the families of those health workers who have children under 18. That's how from 18 doctors who have died, to compensate only for 3, since only they have minor children. While our demand is to compensate for the children of all other health workers, who are under 18 years of age, with between 1,000 and 500 euros a month”, he said,
Sejdiu has said they have asked to compensate children under 18 because they have been dependent on their parents, while not applying for those over the age.
“Persons over 18 have not been dependent on their families. This is a symbolic aid offered to family members, which does not charge the state”, he added.
He has shown how Ode has helped the families of health workers with about 1,000 euros.
Otherwise, despite having received promises of compensation, the Kosovo government has told Express that they have not yet received any proposals from the Ministry of Health for this matter. They say this should come with a proposal to Government.
And, from the Ministry of Health, they have not provided information on compensation.
