Manager NASA, Jim Bridenstein said the $28 billion plan aims to send people back to the moon's surface for the first time since 1972.
“We will return to the moon for scientific discoveries, economic benefits and inspiration for a new generation of explorers,” said Mr. Bridenstein in a statement. “While building a stable presence there, we are also creating conditions to take the first human steps on the Red Planet”, he said, referring to the planet Mars.
Mission NASA for sending back human to the moon is part of its plan called Artemis. Astronauts will be sent with NASA's new missile Space Launch System (SLS) and Orion Space Ship.
Mr. Bridenstein told reporters that <x0 political risks” have often threatened NASA's work, especially before important elections such as these are. If Congress approves $3.2 billion for initial financing by Christmas “we are within the plan for a Monday landing in 2024”, he said.
Notification NASA to send a woman to the moon comes at a time that President Donald Trump is trying to lure female voters on the eve of the November 3rd election. He has declared he will appoint a wife to replace High Court member Ruth Bader Ginsburg, who was separated from life on Friday.
Polls show President Trump is behind the democratic rival among female voters by a large margin, especially among the white women of the periphery areas.
Three projects are in the race for construction of a lunar module that will transport two astronauts from the Orion ship.
One was designed by the Amazon company Blue Orizin, executive head Jeff Bezos in partnership with the Depper firms Lockheed Martin and Northrup Grumman. Other projects are under way by Mr. Elon Musk's SpaceX and Dynetics firms.
After a pilot flight of the ship Artemis 1 about the moon in 2021 and a human voyage of the ship Artemis II around the moon in 2023, the ship Artemis III will land on its surface in 2024 and stay there for a week. Astronauts will spend their time collecting samples of soil and rock, seeking water and other resources as well as conducting scientific experiments. / VoA
