Kosovo government rules agreement on elimination of double tax with Albania

The Kosovo government has approved the decision for the initiative to link the international agreement between Kosovo and Albania, to eliminating double taxes and preventing tax evasion in terms of income and capital tax.
Finance Minister Hykmete Bajrami requested approval of the initiative for negotiating the agreement on eliminating double income taxes and preventing tax evasion in the middle of countries.
“We have already signed 16 double-tax elimination agreements with different countries, including an agreement from 2017 to Albania, but during implementation, there are several obstacles, and some articles are really a barrier to their implementation. The technical levels, the two countries' administrations have initiated that this agreement must be met and changed in order to introduce the best practices now of the agreements to abolish double tax, taking before the end of September we plan to have a joint meeting of the two governments”, she said.
Today's Kosovo Government meeting has also voted the Labour Inspectorate Bill.
Labour and Social Management Minister Skender Recica said the aim of the bill is to reform the institution of the Labour Inspectorate according to the best practices of European Union countries.
Through it, he said they aim to strengthen and reform this institution.
The key issues addressed in this bill are the mandate of the Labour Inspectorate, organisational structure, employee status, including professional conditions and criteria, the tasks and responsibilities of the general director, the competencies of the labour inspectors, the inspection procedure, prevention of conflict of interest, rights and employers' obligations during inspection, investigation into accidents at work, fines, administrative procedures, and counter-evaluence<1>, he said.
The government has approved the decision to publish the sublegal acts of Government and Ministrys in the Official Journal of the Republic of Kosovo, where it said that transparency and judicial security will increase with this move.
At today's meeting, the government has changed and completed the legislative programme for 2020.
The 2020 Parliamentary Programme of the Government of the Republic of Kosovo includes the draft law on ratification of the financial agreement for IPA 2019, second part, target one between the Republic of Kosovo and the European Union, draft law for ratification of the financial agreement for The IPA 2020 between Kosovo and the European Union and the draft law on ratification of the financial contract between Kosovo and the European Investment Bank for the Zeza Water Impiant Project.
Among other things, the Government of Kosovo has voted on the draft law on changing and fulfilling the law on the social economic council, and has allocated 40 thousand euros to the Regional Co-operation Council, headquartered in Sarajevo.
Also today, the Kosovo government has decided to continue the mandate of the Commission's chairman for the compensation of crime victims, Nesrin Lushta.
