KEDS has begun with high intensity implementing investment projects in the capital. Over 800 workers engaged in these projects are conducting works throughout Pristina. In the Sun Coast, as in Qafa and Payton neighbourhoods, the rehabilitation of the power grid is under way. The Sun Coast alone includes 30 transformers, from which over 4,500 consumers will receive far more quality services. Moreover, they will also have alternative supply lines, which means that in the event of a network defect or intervention, their supply will immediately go to the other line.
Through these investments, the Sun Coast, as well as many of Pristina's neighbourhoods, is becoming a long-term solution to the power grid.
These investment projects are being conducted under the KED project for Pristina, which is investing 17m euros, including 90 per cent of the mid-tensity network from which more than 90 thousand consumers will benefit. Besides alternative lines, lines capacity from 10kV to 20 kV will also double, which will eliminate overloads. The same time the pillars will be eliminated, as most of the network will be placed underground through cable channels.
While replacing transformers, as will tomorrow in a part of the Sun Coast, there will be power cuts for consumers in the respective exit, as it cannot be worked under tension. KEDS is doing its best to make those stops as rare as possible. But the process of replacing takes time throughout the day.
