Greece is planning to hold a training of aircraft and rocket-equipped ships in the eastern Aegean area, directly challenging the presence of Turkish ships there.
Greek media report that the Greek navy has recently published a NAVTEX, through which all ships sailing to the territory are announced that in the areas of the islands of Rhodes, Casterorizos, Crete and Carpathos will be held military exercises, abcnews.al writes.
The warning goes into effect tomorrow and takes two days.
NAVTEEX published by the Greek Navy includes the area where it is currently sailing the Turkish ship “Oruch Reis” and the group of ships accompanying it.
For a few weeks, a large number of military ships from countries such as France and the United States are found in the area along with Turkey and Greece.
Tensions between the two countries have raised concern in the EU and the US over a possible military conflict, prompting German Foreign Minister Heiko Maas to hold visits “blic” in Ankara and Athens aimed at lowering the parties at the negotiating table.
