A pair of glasses that once belonged to India's independent icon Mahatma Gandhi have been set up for sale at the stock house in Bristol and the sale price destroyed the original estimate of about 15,000 pounds.
The gold - covered glasses of India's independent hero were sold in Britain for 260,000 pounds, the auction house announced.
We found them only four weeks ago in our paper box, left there by a gentleman whose uncle had his glasses delivered to Gandhi himself,” wrote East Bristol Auctions in the Instagram.
Gandhi gave the glasses to the vendor's uncle while working for the British Petroleum in South Africa during the 1920s or '30s, the auction house said.
Andrew. Stowe from East Bristol Auctions, has announced to Sky News earlier this month, that the salesman told him that if the glasses aren't good, just throw them away!
