Protesters were heard cheering “Resign! ” and “Mafi!”, while some of them threw tomatoes and toilet paper towards the Council of Ministers building in the center of Sofia.
Protests that entered on the seventeenth day continued despite the replacement of four ministers from Prime Minister Boyko Borisov, who hoped that with this change, he would stop calling for his resignation.
However, protesters have said that only the resignation of the entire government would satisfy them, writes “Free Europe”, Report Express.
Borisov dismissed the ministers of finance, economics and home affairs to ban rumors that they were put in service to the interests of powerful businessman Delyan Peevski, who is linked to the opposition Movement for Rights and Freedom. The Minister of Tourism was also replaced.
The replacement of four ministers came after the centre-right government undermined a no-confidence motion in the assembly on July 21st.
Protesters are protesting against the government, accusing it of high-level corruption and favouring powerful oligarchs.
