Halilaj is from Kosovo, and the delegation is organised by the Belgrade Cultural Centre in Serbia, a state that does not recognise Kosovo as an independent state.
He has left this event because it was impossible to reconcile with organisers about the way his country's name of origin would be called on the list of participating artists, Artnet writes, in Albanian Periscopi.
This artist who lives in Berlin has written an open letter detailing his experience in exuberance, officially called October Salon 58th: Belgrade's Biennialja.
Kosovo has declared independence from Serbia in 2008, and has a very tense history between the two countries. During the Kosovo war, Halilaj says he had been expelled from his home and for two years had lived in refugee camps.
He's been referring to the events of the '98 ' s and '99 as genocide. /Periscope
